Future garbage man in training! Braden loves garbage trucks and recycling trucks! He pretends to be the garbage man when we're in the grocery store and he hangs on to the outside of the cart "just like the garbage man, mom!" I really don't understand the obsession with garbage...maybe it's a boy thing??? Mommy was happy to see this kind of quiet play...Braden was diagnosed with double ear infections today...YUCK! So hopefully the antibiotics will kick in and we'll still be able to head to Missouri for the big game!!! (Ok, who's keeping track of how many stinking illnessess this is in the first 6 weeks of school...blah! )

Tonight I went to my friend Shonda's house to document a big event!!! She's been growing her hair for some time now and decided it was about time to cut it all off and donate it to Locks of Love! I think this is such an awesome thing to do! She ended up cutting off 13.5 inches of hair and has a super cute new do now...I don't have any after shots...but maybe she'll email me one and I'll put it up soon!

Mr. Braden the fashion king! He picked this outfit out all by himself today. He was so excited that Meena K and PopPop Dirk were here, he wanted to go outside! So he ran into his room and grabbed this array of clothing! He even came out with socks (one short, one long) underwear and brown dress shoes! Awww...he's growing up!

Today we enjoyed the lunch buffet at Yanni's (a very yummy restuarant) on Daddy's last official day off before he starts his new job on Monday! It's been nice having him home all week, Braden isn't going to know what to do with just Mommy!

The scrapbooking party went great tonight! It was fun and a great excuse for a girls night!

After the party was over (and we'd all watched the premiere of Grey's Anatomy) I sat down to watch The Office. Our neighbor so graciously *taped* it for us because I had to TIVO Grey's and didn't have a spare VCR...oh the drama :) Anyway...back to the story. I tried to put the tape in the VCR and I couldn't get the tape that was currently in the VCR out, so I tried and tried and finally got it out...then I looked inside and saw something strange...I thought it was one cd/dvd so I called up to Chris to bring a screwdriver so I could unscrew the VCR and get it out...turns out there were 9 cd's stuck in the VCR...hmmmmmm....wonder who could have done that? And just look at the selection...everything from Lil Kim to Alan Jackson, Limp Bizkit and the Indigo Girls..WOW!

Ok, I'm biased, but still!

He was so excited about the Lightening McQueen cake...why did we have a Lightening McQueen cake you ask? Well Chris brought it back from Missouri...it was PopPop Dirk's Birthday cake, but he didn't even get to eat a piece of it...instead the whole cake came to our house...boy did we have one excited little boy...plus it made a great bribe tool! I swear he's going through a growth spurt all he has been doing is eating!

Braden finally got a helmet to wear on his bike...he has gotten way to fast for my comfort and hasn't quite figured out that he can use his brakes instead of dragging his feet...so he made me nervous and I bought him a helmet...now I can breathe a little easier as he is tearing done the sidewalk!

Actually this is our neighbor DJ. We were having a surprise 30th birthday party for our other neighbor Amy and DJ decided that it should be a costume party :) The funny part is that no one really questioned him...I guess we're just used to his crazy ways!

I'm surprised I even got a picture of this package...these things seem to disappear fast in our house! Between Chris and Braden they don't last 2 days. Chris has of course taught Braden how to dunk them and everything...I guess when you're not on the growth charts for weight...this is not a problem...but it doesn't work for Mommy ;)

Nothing better than popping Colby Ridge popcorn! This is one of Braden's favorite! I'm sure it has nothing to do with the fact that his Uncle Matt will make it for him everytime we are in Lincoln...unfortunately he was mad at me because we didn't have grape juice, only orange juice to drink with our popcorn...Matthew always has grape and since he worships his uncles, he thinks you can only have grape juice with popcorn. So the next day I went out and bought some so we'll be ready for the next time!!

Well this may be a boring picture of the day, but it has significant meaning! Braden is doing awesome in preschool and really loves it! He has so far learned the letter M and A and recognizes them everywhere now! Last weekend we were watching college football and Michigan happened to be on he asked Chris why there was a big M on the field! Dang he's getting so smart ;)

Today was the big Iowa vs. Iowa State football game. They refer to this game as the Iowa Superbowl and it is a big deal in our neighborhood. It really doesn't mean much to Chris and I since we are Nebraska and Mizzou fans, but we had a little fun with them anyway ;) Plus Iowa was picked as HEAVY favorites (and most of our neighbors are Iowa fans) and they lost...so although no one else would think so, it was great to see...gotta cheer for the underdog ;)

The day started off with a few games of *bags* also known as Cornhole in some circles! It is a neighborhood favorite and we've been known to play at midnight under the street lights!
Then the kids were getting bored with the game (which we were watching in DJ's (the cowboy!) garage) so they started watching a movie on the DVD player on the porch!

Well, since we took the twin bed out of the computer room, I've moved in the card table and set up my scrapbooking shop! I've already gotten a few pages done! It really helps when you can spread out and leave everything out :) Plus I'm having a Creative Memories Scrapbooking party in 2 weeks, so I'm hoping that will really get my bootie in gear!

I do believe that this is the first time that Braden has eaten a peach like this :) Usually I cut it up into little pieces, or he eats the *yellow* ones, as he calls them, out of the little cups! (Gotta love Dole!) But we got some tasty peaches the other day and I asked him if he wanted to try them...he said yes, but he wanted to eat it like this...so he did!

Today Braden came out to the kitchen and told Chris and I that puppy was in timeout! So we went to see and sure enough, there was puppy sitting in Braden's timeout spot in the hall. I asked what puppy had done and Braden said that he had hit his friends, so he had to sit in timeout.

Then Braden sat down and had *the talk* with puppy...he asked him if he knew why he was in timeout, then gave him a big hug and kiss after he said he was sorry...oh my gosh, it was so stinking cute!
Then I guess it was bedtime for puppy because he needed an inhaler treatment...
And to think...3 years ago today that big boy up there came home for the very first time...after calling the hospital home for 11 weeks we got to walk through the doors with him in our arms...what a wonderful day that was!

Today Braden rebounded well from his sickness...guess it was a 24 hour bug or something??? So he helped me paint in the bathroom and we had a great time, and he did such a good time and kept saying, "Mom, you are doing a really good job." Awww...what a sweetie!

After 2 days of being back to normal, Braden woke up today with a yucky nose, wheezing and eventually throwing up...so much fun! So we were very lazy today and spent a lot of time watching cartoons...then I started getting the painting supplies out to tackle our very white bathroom...before and after pictures to come soon! Here Braden decided that the stir sticks and paint can made a great drum set!!!

This is a nightly ritual lately...reading the book "Naughty Little Monkeys" Braden can pretty much read the whole thing himself, and it's a long book! It is really cute! And he loves it that we can fit in his bed with him now that he has a big bed!
